The first ITI for women in Karnataka was established on 1992 with the introduction of courses for women in sewing technology and fashion design.

This institution is associated with NCVT Delhi and offers trades that will enable women to become capable of supporting themselves on their own.

In order to build the first ladies I.T.I., Shri Vijay Sankeshwar, a former M.P., Chairman of the V.R.L. Group of Companies, and supporter of education, donated Rs. 20,00,000 (twenty lakhs) from his M. P. Fund.
